Women's Athletic Shoes
Athletic shoes are different from other shoes in that they are built for a specific function. Athletic shoes are designed to provide support to the foot and body while the person wearing them is engaging in some type of sport. With the public becoming more and more health conscious, many people are spending their lunch hour walking instead of eating. Since most women do not work in shoes which are suitable for walking, many take their athletic shoes with them to work.
Women's athletic shoes are not much different from the athletic shoes the men wear. Often the make and style of the athletic shoe lends itself well to both men and women. They all usually contain support in the arch area and they all usually have rubber soles which are very flexible.
Sneakers: This is usually a general term for athletic shoes which are flexible and lightweight, and most of the time they are the lace up style. The rubber sole provides better traction than the leather soles on dress shoes. Often they are made of cloth and can be put in the washing machine when they get dirty.
Tennis Shoes: This too is a generic name which is often used to refer to athletic shoes. The actual tennis shoe which is worn by tennis players provides a greater degree of arch support and they are often made of sturdier materials than the average athletic shoe. Many of the professional tennis players will prefer a shoe which covers the ankle and provides ankle protection. Boating Shoes: Women now have access to shoes which are designed using a stretch mesh upper and a plastic sole which is designed to provide traction on slippery surfaces without causing damage to the surface of the boat. These shoes now come in many fashionable colors to match all of those stylish bathing suits. The mesh provides a great degree of comfort and coolness. Nike: This company puts out a high quality athletic shoe for the entire family. They are well known for their superstars who advertise their product. Nike also manufacturers a shoe known as Nike Air, which provides a lot of extra support for the feet and body. This type athletic shoe is one of the more expensive ones available. Reebok: This company produces some of the most popular women's athletic shoes. There was a time in America when every woman had to have a pair of Reebok athletic shoes. They are well known for their freestyle version which came out about the same time as women began getting interested in fitness. The freestyle provided extreme comfort as well as a great style. Women tend to wear athletic shoes for the purpose they are made. They wear them to the gym or for a stroll in the park. Rarely do women wear athletic shoes to work unless they have a job which requires this type shoe. There is a lot of controversy about buying a name brand athletic shoe versus the lesser known brands. Many people believe the more expensive name brand shoe always produces higher quality, but this is not always the case. Many lesser known companies also make a good athletic shoe which offers good quality and good support. One should always try on several different types before making a purchase. After all, athletic shoes are designed to be fun and fun doesn't always have to be expensive.
