Women's Running Shoes

Running shoes are designed to provide support for the feet and body while jogging or running. Many women also purchase running shoes for walking. Because of the amount of impact to the legs and knees, it is important to be fitted with a good running shoe. For the avid runner, this is an absolute must if you want to prevent injury to the joints and muscles.

Before buying ladies running sport shoes it would be wise to do a little research about the shoes and about the type foot you have. Almost everybody needs arch support but not everybody needs the same amount. If possible, visit one of the athletic shoe stores and see if they have somebody who is professionally trained to fit the shoe to the foot. This can be a big help with getting the proper fit and the proper shoe for you.

Womens running shoes need to be as near perfect as possible when you buy them. Just one little rough area on the inside can cause extreme irritation while running. This is something which might not show up when you try them on so make it a point to visually and physically check out all points of the shoe. You should take your hand and feel the insides to see if anything is out of place.

Heel Cushion: Running shoes should have adequate cushion in the heel of the shoe since this is usually the first thing that touches the ground. When running there is a great deal of pressure which is applied to the heel. The lack of sufficient cushioning can cause foot damage and make for a bad day on the track.

Proper Fit: When trying on running shoes you should always take a pair of socks with you since this is what you will be wearing with the shoe. Don't rely on the store to provide socks; take the ones you own and wear. Make sure the shoe is the correct length. If your big toe touches the inside front of the shoe they are probably too short. The foot must have a little room for movement without causing pain to the toes.

Shoe Comfort: If the shoe is too tight or not comfortable when you try it on, put it back on the shelf. Nothing is worse than a tight fitting pair of shoes when you are trying to walk or run. Don't just put the shoe on then take it back off. Try walking in the shoe for a few minutes to get the feel of what it is like to put the shoe in motion.

Women's running shoes should always be kept in good shape. Once they become worn in one area or another, it is time to look for another pair. This is especially important for professional runners who really rack up the mileage on their shoes. It would probably be wise for you to stick with the same brand and style each time you buy.

If you are a professional or marathon runner you might want to have one pair of shoes for training and another for race day. This will extend the life of the shoes you use to race. It is never wise to have a brand new pair for race day since this could present a painful problem. Once you get a good, comfortable pair broke in you can put them back and save them. Use the shoes which have the lesser value while you are in training.
