High Heel Shoes
When it comes to shoes, women have the market over men. Women have so many styles and colors to choose from while men only have the boring darker colors. High heel shoes belong exclusively to the woman who wants to exude confidence and beauty. Wearing these shoes makes the leg appear more shapely and slender.
Shoes that feature high heels have come and gone in the fashion industry several times but they always make a come back and they always seem to be in style. More and more women are opting to wear the lower heeled pump at the office and leaving the shoes with the higher heels for evening wear. Part of this can be attributed to medical warnings saying that continuous wearing of high heels can be damaging to the back.
Stiletto Heel: The stiletto heel is usually a long and thin heel that can reach up to 7 inches in height. They were invented by the Italians and even though they have never really gone out of style, today they are worn more for evening or for an occasion which is going to last only a short time. They give height to the woman and help provide shapelier legs but are usually to uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time.
The Kitten Heel: This heel is basically the same shape as the stiletto but is much shorter in length. Usually the kitten heel is under 2 inches in height and is more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. This type heel does not provide as much shape to the leg but is very attractive and more comfortable. Often shoes with the kitten heel have other ornamentation which makes for a very stylish shoe. The Wedge Heel: The wedge heel can provide height while at the same time providing more standing support. The wedge is a solid heel that begins at the arch and extends back to the rear of the shoe and comes in various heights. The wedge can still provide the shapely leg but tends to be easier to walk in than the stiletto or kitten. High heel shoes are often worn by petite women who desire to look taller. They also provide a certain sex appeal which catches a man's eye. Many women feel they are not properly dressed if they wear a dress and flats. High heels have long been associated with going to church on Sunday. High heels are not as common on taller women since most tall women are self conscious about their height. They are also not as common on women who have to be on their feet a lot at the office. In years past the disco became a popular dance which required high heels in order to do it properly. This fast paced, light hearted dance is not as popular as it once was but there are still a lot of disco fans out there. The waltz is another dance which is best done in heels. The waltz is a timeless classic which never goes out of style but is usually associated with formal occasions. Nothing looks quite as graceful as a man and woman doing the waltz while the woman is wearing high heels and a full skirted dress.
